DestinationCamp 2018

"Plenty of exchange, discussion, motivation, ideas – practically and efficiently in only 2.5 days", promises the program of the eighth DestinationCamp, which took place from May 25th – 27th in Hamburg. And those promises were kept. The event, which sees itself as a forum for tourism professionals, attracted 250 visitors from all tourism sectors as well as experts and representatives from politics and administration to exchange ideas, network and talk about the future of the industry. In lectures, workshops and panel discussions, they dealt with new trends and customer needs, talked about challenges and got to know innovative solutions for tourism marketing and management.

And what are the topics that will move the tourism industry in 2018?

Digitalization will by no means leave tourism behind. Whether customers will pay with crypto currencies in the future, artificial intelligence and machine learning make the work of tourism professionals easier, or if Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality will have a permanent place in the tourism experience – DestinationCamp was all about new technologies and their potential for the travel industry.

The guiding theme of "the human factor" ensured that, despite all technology, people are not forgotten. Whether tourist or tour provider, digitization should serve people – a sensible imperative not only for the tourism industry.

SAINT ELMO'S shows 360° competence at the DestinationCamp

SAINT ELMO'S Tourismusmarketing was, as a 360° marketing agency specialized in tourism and as a partner of DestinationCamp, at the big meeting in Hamburg. The agency, formerly PRODINGER|GFB, with over 25 years of experience in tourism advertising and communication, has been part of the Serviceplan Group since 2017 and cooperates internationally with the best in the advertising industry. In Hamburg, they presented the new brand "SAINT ELMO'S Tourism Marketing" and the new service area "Service Design Thinking", which stands for place branding & making under the direction of Martin Schobert. It was supported by partner agency SAINT ELMO'S Berlin, which presented an innovative example from its own mixed reality forge in the context of new technologies.
